Overview: Taranis

Taranis is an Israeli AgTech startup that has developed an AI-driven SaaS platform for Ag retailers that helps them detect early signs of crop threats such as weeds, insects, diseases, and nutrient deficiency.

Taranis’s unprecedented leaf-level precision brings together the best of precision ag and crop scouting. Taranis’ platform uses data acquisition from an array of sources including satellite, aircraft, and drones, covering millions of acres at submilliliter resolution, providing the ability to differentiate between different types of crop problems.

Taranis’ technology is highly differentiated and enjoys a technology leadership position on account of its high-resolution submillimeter imagery data that trains its advanced deep learning engines, hence, providing superior AI insights.

Taranis’ technology allows Ag retailers to provide better service to their growers, increase their sales and guarantee growers are taking the best actions to maximize yields and reduce costs.

The company’s outstanding leadership is headed by new CEO Bar Veinstein who joined the company after serving as President of Ex Libris, a leading EdTech firm, where he spearheaded its transition to a SaaS-based business, growing its SaaS bookings from 29% to 100% of total bookings, expanding EBITDA margins from 28% to 42%, and scaling revenue to $200M. Ex Libris was acquired by ProQuest in 2015, which in turn was acquired by Clarivate (CLVT) in 2021 for $5.3B.
