Air EV reaches next phase in USAF program, plans US testing
Air EV, OurCrowd’s personal aviation pioneer, reached the next phase of participation in the USAF’s AFWERX Agility Prime program, designed to help propel development of the advanced air mobility industry.
Air EV is currently scouting several locations to build out its American presence and continue flight testing its inaugural Air ONE eVTOL aircraft in the US. The flight testing will also help to determine whether Air ONE could be used in Air Force logistics missions.
Air ONE is designed to make personal air mobility a viable option for consumers’ everyday commuter journeys. The all-electric, two-seater vertical takeoff and landing aircraft is capable of taking off and landing on any flat surface. It carries a 550-pound payload, and can fly 100 miles on a single charge at speeds up to 155 mph.
It commands a base price of $150,000 and requires only about 15 to 30 hours of training. The company’s goal is that no pilot’s license will be necessary.
The startup is on track to receiving clearance from the US Federal Aviation Administration, and expects to start deliveries this year. It has received hundreds of orders and has already carried out an unstaffed journey, successfully transitioning from hover flight to cruise flight.
